LBB Prevention & Wellbeing Team, Barnet Council Adult Social Care Directorate [P&WB Team]

We work with residents to prevent, reduce, and delay health and social care needs from escalating into crises.

Our aim is to help residents to enhance their independence and wellbeing via the help of our vast network of community service-partners , which include different teams at the council, within the NHS and/or local charitable organisations.

Therefore, we typically support residents by resolving and removing many barriers or problems they may be experiencing – whether it be housing, finance, health, social care issues, or any other issue that may be adversely affecting one’s wellbeing. Our team can help connect residents with the right specialists, interventions, or local services.

Barnet residents can access our service in 4 different ways:

  1. P&WB Team host drop-in session Community Surgeries within all Barnet wards, at different community venues - Barnet residents can drop-in at these local venues, with any concerns and various issues (e.g. housing, debts, anti-social behaviour, physical-mental-emotion health and well-being, issues, LPA’s Wills, DWP and social care issues. Whatever the issue, we have a service-partner who can help!)

  1. P&WB Team host periodic local Community Information Fairs within Barnet wards –

These are one-off events, sometimes themed (e.g.) Golders Green Heart health & Services information Fair, where residents can visit, meet and discuss their concerns with a variety of service providers - who can advise and…

[i] inform about local services,

[ii] discuss Barnet residents’ interests or needs and

[iii] help with resolving any difficult issues residents might be experiencing or battling with.

  1. P&WB Team also work to support residents with the creation or development of Community Neighbourhood Projects and initiatives to fill a need or service-gap that is missing
  2. P&WB Team also receive referrals for Care Act eligible residents via Barnet Council Adult Social Care teams (via Social Workers, NHS OT’s Mental Health Teams, and community organisations, too). With these client-referrals, we complete 1:1 case work to resolve these client’s issues.
